Today I’m sharing details and a few favorite photos from our April 2021 Georgian Terrace wedding. We absolutely loved our wedding venue and hope this article helps another couple in the wedding planning process. All photos credit Jessica Lorren Photography.
Why The Georgian Terrace
When searching for a wedding venue, my husband and I knew we wanted somewhere that met three major requirements. First, we wanted a venue that could double as a host hotel. As a wedding photographer, I’ve witnessed firsthand the effect travel logistics can have on the stress and flow of a big day, and I loved the idea of keeping everything in one place. We also wanted a venue that could comfortably host ~200 guests. Pandemic restrictions ultimately shrunk our guest list to 150, but the Georgian Terrace met this requirement nonetheless. Third, we wanted a venue in the heart of Atlanta — the city where we fell in love and a place that means so very much to us.
The Georgian Terrace fit all of our requirements and more. Built in 1911, the historic hotel is rich in history and even housed the Gone with the Wind Premier in the late thirties. The location is unbeatable, with the Fox Theater and other local Midtown attractions just steps away. The venue photographs so well, with large white pillars lining the terrace and endless beautiful backdrops nearby.
After a very short search, we fell in love with this fabulous venue and moved full steam ahead planning our special day.
Georgian Terrace Wedding: Getting Ready Details
My Getting Ready Outfit: Robe | Bodysuit | Slippers
We started our day getting ready in separate suites at the Georgian Terrace. The hotel offers several over-sized suites, including a spacious bridal suite complimentary for wedding couples. We booked a three-bedroom suite to serve as the bridesmaid get-ready location, and had the groomsmen use the traditional two-bedroom bridal suite. My sisters and Mom stayed with me on the eve of our wedding, and I loved waking up together to start the day. We ordered breakfast from nearby Einstein Bagels for both parties and lunch from Fresh2Order.

Georgian Terrace Wedding: First Looks
One underrated element of the Georgian Terrace: in the event of rain, the terrace has several large overhangs protected from the elements. With an early afternoon full of thunderstorms, we were so thankful to have both first looks (Dad + Matt) in a dry area. Prior to our first look, Matt also had the sweetest intimate moment with his parents. I love his Mom’s reaction!

Reception & Ceremony Details
The Georgian Terrace houses several ballrooms and large conference rooms. We hosted our ceremony in the Piedmont Ballroom, followed by cocktail hour in the hallway and a reception in the Grand Ballroom. Both ballrooms are gorgeous, featuring beautiful crystal chandeliers and stunning architectural details.
Immediately following our ceremony, Matt and I had a moment alone in one of the Georgian Terrace’s smaller conference rooms. It was so nice to eat on our own and share time together before entering our reception. I also changed into my second dress during this break!

Pro Tip: We booked classes at International Dance Studios and had the best time learning a choreographed routine to our first dance song, Signed, Sealed, Delivered. Both Matt & I agree this was a highlight of our pre: wedding prep — and one of the most memorable moments of our wedding night!
One of my favorite parts about the grand ballroom was the Juliette balcony — the perfect spot for a fun grand entrance!
Reception Layout Details
We opted for a large estate table to fit our bridal party members and their plus ones. Matt and I sat at the end closest to the stage. I loved this layout because it gave us a front row seat to the action while still allowing for intimate time with our closest friends and family. To accommodate our remaining guests, we had a total of 16 tables with a mixture of 6-8 guests per table.
One thing we didn’t love about the Georgian Terrace was the dark brown dance floor, so we opted to bring in Indaglow Productions to create a custom dance floor wrap. This was the monogram we shared with the team, and they created the most magical white & gold wrap!

Exit and After-Party Details
After a wonderful night of dancing and drinking with our favorite people, we exited the venue through a tunnel of sparklers and jumped in Georgia Tech’s (our alma mater) iconic mascot, the Ramblin’ Wreck. We took a short ride around campus before returning to the Georgian Terrace for our after-party.
Another underrated pro of the Georgian Terrace: an amazing on-property speakeasy! Edgar’s Proof and Provision was the perfect location for late night cocktails and bar food.
