Ah, the Bahamas—picture-perfect beaches, clear water, iconic sunsets, and the friendliest people. My husband Matt and I spent a dreamy week in Nassau earlier this year, and we both agree it was one of the most refreshing vacations we’ve ever taken. We needed a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, and we were shocked to discover 3-hour nonstop flights from NYC to Nassau on Delta. Our last-minute trip ended up being one of our best yet, filled with days at the beach, fishing, nights exploring Baha Mar, and so much more.
In today’s post, I’m sharing my favorite Bahamas outfits, what I packed for our trip, and hopefully a dose of inspiration as you prep your vacation wardrobe. If you read to the end of this article, I’ll also share a few highlights from our trip and my top recommendations!
Packing for Bahamas Weather
The peak season in the Bahamas is from December to April, which is arguably the best time to visit the island if you don’t mind the crowds. These months typically see daytime temperatures around 75-80 °F and dry, comfortable weather. You’ll want to opt for breathable clothing, like lightweight dresses and versatile linen pieces.
If you’re considering a trip between June and November, you’ll want to be mindful of hurricane season. May through November is the rainy season in the Bahamas, so be sure to pack accordingly. While the temperatures are still lovely, the weather can be a wildcard during this stretch. Pack layers, a light raincoat, and maybe even some waterproof sandals, so you’re ready for whatever Mother Nature throws your way. (Source: US News)
We chose to visit the Bahamas in late April, which is technically considered the end of high season for the island. We had a day of heavy rain but otherwise stunning weather. I highly recommend this time period, as the crowds were minimal and the prices were affordable.
Bahamas Outfits: Clothing I Packed
Now, let’s explore the clothing I packed for Nassau: dresses, swimsuits, coverups, and much more.
Little White Dresses
One of my favorite tried-and-true vacation outfits is a beautiful little white dress. I packed this stunning linen dress (sold out- similar here) that I rented via Rent the Runway, and it made for some Instagram-worthy photos. All-white looks like this are so easy to dress up or down, and I stayed cool during hot days.

Slip-On Dresses
If you’re heading to the Bahamas, I recommend packing plenty of comfortable, slip-on dresses that are easy to dress up or down. We were often rushing to dinner after a day on the beach or by the pool, so easy styles were key. I wore a stunning lightweight dress by Baobab (similar here) for a night of bar hopping and threw on this easy Amazon dress for one of our day outings.

Cut-Out Dresses
One of my favorite outfits from our trip was this gorgeous Patbo dress that I wore for a more formal night out. Crochet dresses pass the Bahamas vibe check and are perfect for dressier nights. This dress is sold out, but this similar option is just as chic. I also loved this tie-dye cutout dress by Bronx and Banco; it was an easy, comfortable option for a night by the pier.

Two and Three-Piece Swim Sets
A recent Amazon discovery and my new favorite swimwear, this three-piece set (similar here) is a funky take on a classic beach coverup. And this one-piece swimsuit and matching skirt set is to die for—only $40 and the perfect beach day look! We spent a few days exploring Atlantis, and I loved being able to go from walking the resort grounds to swimming with these looks.

Colorful Coverups
I was incredibly excited about this gorgeous rainbow coverup from PQ Swim (similar here and here) that I wore for our perfect day fishing. How stunning are these bright colors? If you’re heading to the Bahamas, you’ll want to pack versatile, comfortable coverups like this that you can wear during days in the sun. I also packed a few solid coverup options, including this stunning pink coverup (similar linked).

Matching Sets
Who doesn’t love a good matching set? I love packing sets when I travel because they’re incredibly versatile and chic. They take the guesswork out of the dreaded “What should I pair with this top?” question and can be mixed and matched with other wardrobe items. I packed this stunning Amazon set and wore it twice on our trip. Amazon surprisingly has tons of matching tops and skirts that are great quality and look expensive.

Bahamas Outfits: Accessories I Packed
Now for the icing on the cake: accessories! When I’m traveling, I don’t just throw any jewelry or trinkets into my bag. Instead, I opt for versatile accessories that effortlessly take my outfit from beachside casual to dinner-date chic. It’s all about simplicity combined with the power to make a statement. Here are a few of the accessories I packed for our Bahamas vacation:
Fun Sunglasses and Hats
Skin cancer runs in my family, so there’s not a beach memory I have that doesn’t involve a rash guard. These days, you can find me under an umbrella with an oversized sun hat and sunglasses. Here are my favorite hats and sunglasses (all from Amazon!) from the trip:
Beach-Approved Bags
I packed several beach-ready bags, including this gorgeous Cult Gaia dupe I love from Amazon. Bamboo accessories go with everything and are a great option for nights out, and you’ll want to bring a tote bag for days on the beach. Check out a few more of my picks below:
Vacation-Ready Jewelry
I opt for budget-friendly jewelry when I travel, and this trip was no exception! You don’t want to lose your diamond ring while snorkeling. I always find the best statement earrings and simple necklaces on Amazon, and I love Prime’s free shipping. This pack of hoops is one of my favorites if you’re looking for affordable gold jewelry. Here are a few chic (and cheap) alternatives that I packed on our trip:
Comfortable Shoes
Flats, sandals, or comfortable wedges are great options for your Bahamas vacation. From exploring Paradise Island to long sunset beach walks, we definitely got our steps in on this trip, and I was so thankful for comfy shoes! I opted for my favorite block heel slides and flats mostly. Here are a few of my favorite pairs of shoes that fit the island dress code:
Before I close, here are a few highlights from our trip:
- OIA at Goldwynn. This was hands-down my favorite meal of the trip. From the freshest sushi to amazing lamb, OIA’s ‘Mediterr-Asian’ menu has something for everyone. Head to OIA before a night at Baha Mar, which is just 4-5 minutes by car.
- Baha Mar Casino. Matt and I both agreed that this was the nicest casino we had ever stepped foot in. Grab an espresso martini in the lobby bar and hit the slots or table games for an unforgettable night.
- Fishing Charter. We found a captain through GetMyBoat and had an unforgettable experience on the water. Fishing was fun, but I enjoyed boating around Harbour Island and seeing the stunning celebrity mansions just as much. This was the perfect way to tour the island!
After reading this article, I hope you’re even more excited about your upcoming trip to the sunny Bahamas! Until next time, I wish you an island vacation filled with good times and sunny skies! I’m already counting down the days until our next trip, so consider me jealous!
